Middle Tennessee Chapter
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We
believe that blind people are essentially normal and that blindness in itself
is not a mental or psychological handicap. Throughout history, blind people
have shown that, when blind people know and use alternative, non-visual techniques,
blindness becomes nothing more than a physical nuisance. Blind people are
not inferior to, or different from the sighted, they just do things differently!
IT IS RESPECTABLE TO BE BLIND!
Because of their personal experience with blindness, the blind themselves are
best qualified to lead the way in solving their own problems. But, the general
public is invited to join us in the work of changing what it means to be blind,
as we seek the equality, opportunity and security which is the birthright of
every member of our society; irrespective of age, race, gender or religion.
Please contact us if you have any questions, or you need assistance with any
issues related to vision loss or blindness.
